Attorney Mike McCormick represents clients in cases involving Relief From Firearms Disability/Prohibition and the Restoration of Firearms Rights as well as the Expungement of Involuntary Civil Commitments under Section 302 of the Pennsylvania Mental Health Procedures Act.
He also represents clients who have been accused of violations of the Pennsylvania Uniform Firearms Act as well as other violations of the Criminal Code.
For over twenty years Mike McCormick has been a legal resource and counsel for the Allegheny County Sportsmen’s League (ACSL) and the Pennsylvania Sportsmen's Association (PSA) donating many hours of his time without pay.
Mike McCormick also has been a legal resource and counsel for Firearms Owners Against Crime (FOAC).
His insight, responsiveness and dedication to the mission specific issues of the ACSL, PSA and FOAC have garnered him the respect and gratitude of their officers and member clubs. Mr. McCormick has participated with Kim Stolfer, Harry Schneider and other members in many issues including legislative, constitutional and criminal issues affecting the organization and individuals alike.
Mike considers himself privileged to have worked with Kim Stolfer and Harry Schneider and to consider each of them a friend.
Mike McCormick is a graduate of the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Law. After being admitted to the bar in 1974, Mr. McCormick began the general practice of law in Pittsburgh. After having an office in downtown Pittsburgh for much of his career, Mr. McCormick now maintains a law office in Verona, Pennsylvania.
Mike has been a faculty member and lecturer at continuing legal education seminars presented by the Pennsylvania Bar Institute on topics including obtaining relief from firearms disability, restoring firearms rights, and the expungement of involuntary civil commitments.
Mike has has served an instructor during firearms training courses presented by John Farnam through Defense Training International as well as taking courses offered by DTI.
Mr. McCormick has also served as a sworn Special Deputy Sheriff in the Allegheny County Sheriff Reserve, Uniform Division, where in addition to regular duties he was a member of the firearms instructor team.
